How to become an esports coach

Coaching is a different job from playing. Being high rank gets you in the door; being able to explain why something works is what keeps students coming back. Here is what it takes to start.

What you need before you start

A verifiable level in your game, first of all: a Faceit or in-game rank, match history, tournament results, or a profile page that shows where you have played. Students and marketplaces both check this.

Then the part that is easy to underestimate: teaching. You need to watch a demo and turn it into two or three fixable habits, explain them in plain language, and keep the student motivated while they practise. Patience beats mechanics here.

Build your offers

Do not sell "coaching". Sell specific things: a 60-minute demo review, a live session on positioning, an aim and routine plan, team scrim analysis. Clear offers are easier to price, easier to book and easier to deliver well. Publish separate prices for different session lengths so students can start small.

Your setup

You need a stable connection, a decent microphone, screen sharing or a recording tool, and a demo viewer for your game. Keep a simple template for session notes so every student leaves with something written down. That single habit produces most of your repeat bookings.

Finding students, and getting paid

You can build an audience yourself through streams, clips and communities, or you can coach on a marketplace where students are already looking. A marketplace handles discovery, scheduling, payments and invoices, so you spend your time coaching rather than chasing transfers.

On Elovolve you set your own rates and keep the full amount you list, because the platform fee is paid by the student on top. Payments are held in escrow until the session is confirmed, and you withdraw your balance to your bank account when you want.

Getting listed

Elovolve reviews every coach before listing them: we look at your Faceit, HLTV and Liquipedia profiles and verify you are who you say you are. If it is a fit you receive a private signup link, then you set up your offers, prices and availability and go live. Counter-Strike 2 coaches are being onboarded first, with other games following.
